CHAPTER 1
Tell us a bit about you and what got you into interior design…
Always a creative and garish child, art and design subjects where my chosen subjects throughout school and college. Studying textiles and photography in my A Levels, I didn’t know which route to go down. I always explored routes to combine the two, spending many hours in the photography studio photographing textile pieces I’d made. It was only when I started working part time at an interior shop, my love for interiors came to life, which led me to study Interior Design at university.
My weekends consist of hiking, exploring the countryside and spending time on my kayak. I’ve recently been abseiling, bouldering and tried gorge walking which enhanced my love for the water. Catching flights to enjoy weekend city breaks is one of my favourite hobbies, admiring the architecture and exploring a countries history excites me, but most of all, trying local cuisines and sipping on Aperol Spritz is my die hard favourite.
CHAPTER 2
What best describes your design style?
Maximalism – Bold, acentric prints in striking designs are my go too. A deeper colour pallet is my favourable option, with warm oranges and contrasting greens a reoccurring selection in my sample library. Layering textures in various forms is at the forefront of my designs which adds depth and interest to any interior; this being one of my key design rules. Contrasting prints in clashing patterns is one of my favourite things to do; not being afraid of colour and pattern is recognisable within my designs. I love exploring antique mills for reclaimed pieces of furniture, not only are these a sustainable part of a design, but they also reflect the true craftmanship of our previous era.
CHAPTER 3
What is your favourite interior design spot?
Soho House – The Farmhouse
A true reflection of England’s picturesque countryside, Soho Farmhouse is the destination place to truly unwind and relax. The Cotswold’s is a true reflection of England’s heritage and Soho House plays homage to that within its Farmhouse through paired back timber panelling, soft colour pallets, nautical prints and locally sourced produce. The bedrooms consist of ditsy floras and linear stripes are at the forefront of the design in high quality linen fabrics, paired with handcrafted furniture sourced from antique fairs; everything in this house reflects a true British culture.
The hospitality areas are brought to life with striking prints used on feature cushions on beautiful sofas and armchairs in strong, but soft, pastel toned velvets. The deep pile velvets ensure you can do nothing but submerge yourself into the handcrafted pieces. Joinery pieces have carefully been designed, with the layout of the lounge areas set up to feel like a home away from home, with large bookcases, coffee tables and floor lamps nestled on top of a rug which your feet can’t help sinking into.
